On the outskirts of Irpin adjacent to the Cemetery lies another kind of graveyard .
As Ukrainians fled the Russian assault on Northwestern Kyiv the either abandoned their cars at the impassable Irpin bridge or died at the wheel in a hail of bullets .
The twisted wreckage of vehicles scarred by bullets and shrapnel have now been cleared off the streets of this once affluent Kyiv suburb .

Irpin , a commuter town on the outskirts of Kyiv that saw heavy fighting between invading Russian and defending Ukrainian forces .
