Brian Stewart with his Lurcher "Torquil ".
Brian Stewart CMG, served as a Lieutenant in the 1st Battalion Tyneside Scottish, The Black Watch and was second in command of an anti tank platoon in Normandy . On 1st July 1944 he was seriously wounded and evacuated after his half dozen six pounder guns destroyed 12 German tanks during the battle of Rauray .
His son Rory Stewart is a former diplomat and now a Conservative MP in Cumbria .
