Pic by Heathcliff O'malley. Marine Corps reservists from the 2 Battallion,24 Marine Expeditionary Unit carried out a number of raids in the town of Mahmudiyah today. A number of weapons including a Dragunov sniper rifle,Kalshnikovs, ammunition and a mortar sight were retreived and a number of suspects were arrested and detained.. The operation took place in the market area of the town in narrow urban streets, making the raid all the more difficult with the presence of civilians. The Marines tried to overcome this by blocking off street junctions preventing the flow of traffic by vehicle and on foot forming a more secure perimeter around the target area..
