Kfar Aza Kibbutz

Shahar Shnurman, 62 survived the Kfar Aza massacre with his wife , locked inside their safe room . They moved back in December living among the “ghosts” and a small number of other survivors that have returned. Shahar has tattooed 07.10.23 on the inside of his right arm in memory of those that were murdered .

The kibbutz lost 61 of its 950 residents in the Hamas led assualt that marked the beginning of the Israel-Gaza war. Two more members were mistakenly killed by IDF soldiers in Gaza in December, bringing the total to 63.

Nineteen were taken to Gaza as hostages from Kfar Aza, of whom 11 have returned to Israel. Two hostages were killed in captivity, and five are assumed to be still alive.
